CUSTOM SPECIALIZED VENGE AND P3 RESPRAY

More Venge’s. Didn’t know there were that many! Some customers look to CBR to custom spray new designs. No small task if you know the value of these frames.

At last the P3 is getting its first base coat. It has taken a while to get to this frame again as it is not a priority repair but I am looking forward to proving that it is fully competitive again.

SHARP CONDOR TEAM BIKE

Dean Downing’s frame came in for top tube and bottle cage insert repair. The only advice I can give you on this model frame is DON”T over tighten the bottle cage too much. I think due to the very thin down tube it can’t hold the compressed rivet tightly enough so it ends up spinning. I think the colour matching pink worked out well enough 🙂

TREK 5.2 REPAIR & RESPRAY

Another example of the detail we put into our restoration work. This Madone 5.2 had a downtube fracture through the letter ‘R’. The additional cost of restoration can prove worthwhile in bringing back the original spirit of the frame when a warranty claim fails.

I TOLD YOU SO!

In a recent post ‘BREAKING THE RIM’ I talked about the efficiency of brakes and carbon brake tracks. I don’t have any agenda other than to share what we see all too often at the workshop, so let me clarify –

Carbon brakes are not efficient. There is no point to try to emulate alloy rim braking characteristics. In this example you can see the quality of the wheel as well as the damage from over-heating when you try to make carbon brake efficiently. Don’t get confused with F1 carbon brakes!

My advice is to use cork based brake pads that aren’t great stoppers but will stop you destroying your carbon rims.

MCLAREN VENGE DAMAGED AND REPAIRED

We get very nervous when a bike like a Mclaren Venge comes in for repair. Getting the layup just right in the correct carbon is important for the ride characteristics. Colour matching has to be bang on. This frame is now 100% perfect. It looks and weighs exactly the same. Thank you for your trust in us!

DE ROSSA 888 SUPERKING DAMAGED

Damaged while trying to remove the pedals by using the seat post as leverage without the clamp fastened. It can happen to anyone! The seat post broke through the seat tube cut away. The bike was 2 weeks old. Customer was so gutted that his wife sorted out the repair. When he collected it I believe he was over the moon to have it 100% as it was before.

PEARSON FRACTURED SEATSTAY POST AND HEADSET

You can see the amount of epoxy (white) in the original frame. Epoxy is brittle. This should be nearly all carbon fibre! The head set was also out of commission until we set it straight. Again another example of a complimentary re-spray. Better then new 🙂

FELT SPECIALIZED

On a typical day we are repairing multiple bikes which require similar treatment. These examples are typical of the complimentary re-sprays that come with the repair!
