CERVELO P3 SHEARED SEAT POST CLAMP BOLT

On occasion we help out when a perfectly good TT bike can’t be used because of a sheared bolt. We drilled out the original shaft and cleaned out the threads. As a result we can still use the same bolt size.  Result – P3 saved.

A tip – sweat or energy fluids travelling down the tubes corrode alloy components. When you are done riding make sure you wash the frame down and spray some lube in these areas. Aslo check cable entry points. That’s a big one!

TREK MADONE 6.9 DI2 CONVERSION AND CUSTOM FACE LIFT

Here is an all-internal cable conversion of a Madone 6.9. The BB area is the tricky part but it is nice to be able to keep all cables running within the BB shell. Before CBR sprayed the matt black with grey metallic decals we where able to seal off the 2nd cable entry on the down tube. I would have preferred to seal both off and feed the cable through the head tube but we had a budget to consider.

As a result his favourite ride just got a whole lot better.

COLNAGO C50 ‘LAMBARGO’ CUSTOM

I promise we still mainly repair carbon bikes! but a client just emailed these pics through of a Lamborghini inspired Colnago C50 we designed and sprayed last month. I assume this is to adorn the show room with all things Italian.

Thanks for the pics Chris it was fun doing this one!

S-WORKS NEW LEASE OF LIFE

Understated yet detailed has turned this tired Tarmac into something personal. In many cases our customer sits in on the design process of their bike. Why not? It is quicker and we get to advise there-and-then on the design to make sure it comes out better then they had expected.

GOLDEN PINARELLO

The client and I really had good fun designing this baby. It took about an hour to come up with this gold on black design. There are two notable features – Firstly I was determined that the bike should be matt because the gold would pop out when a gloss finish would disturb the effect of the gold.

The 2nd feature is the ability to re-produce the exact font for Pinarello decals such as names. It is this attention to detail and the simple design balance that makes this frame stand out for me.

HOW DURABLE ARE YOUR CARBON REPAIRS?

I recently received an email from someone who bought a CBR repaired Trek frames online. The bike has been on the road for over a year.

You can clearly see the paint we used at the time (before we developed the respray side of CBR) did not stand up to the outdoors. His question is about the integrity of the frame more then aesthetics. There has been some flexing which has cracked the brittle paint around the modified area but it has not failed. Click here and scroll down to ‘TREK TCT 5 SERIES MISSING SEAT TUBE’ for the original repair.

So to answer his question – If the repair has not fractured directly after repairing it is most likely not going to fail at a later date of its own accord.

Carbon does not ‘half crack’. It either fails or it does not. When we test repairs before sending them out the warranty covers at least 3 months. This is plenty of time for any issues to re-occur. Happy summer riding!
