I TOLD YOU SO!

In a recent post ‘BREAKING THE RIM’ I talked about the efficiency of brakes and carbon brake tracks. I don’t have any agenda other than to share what we see all too often at the workshop, so let me clarify –

Carbon brakes are not efficient. There is no point to try to emulate alloy rim braking characteristics. In this example you can see the quality of the wheel as well as the damage from over-heating when you try to make carbon brake efficiently. Don’t get confused with F1 carbon brakes!

My advice is to use cork based brake pads that aren’t great stoppers but will stop you destroying your carbon rims.
