CANNONDALE SIX SHEARED FRONT END

When a large frame for a specific size rider is damaged, the rider has few places to turn. This frame was structurally compromised when both top and down tube separated at the head tube. A fairly time consuming repair but worth it in the end. This one I also sprayed

FELT DA CRACKED SEAT CLAMP

Apparently this is an issue on this model. It’s a tricky repair because you can’t remove the bonded half that is cracked so the next best thing was to wrap it in a carbon blanket to bind it together. I don’t like this design because of the amount of flex under a moderate torque. We had to get this out fast for a race this week. Good luck Jack!

IS CARBON REPAIR WORTH THE COST?

Of course! If anyone wants a quality carbon frame but can’t afford a new one or indeed a 2nd hand one without damage (….) then the next best thing is to Ebay a damaged one of the right size.

Do the math. Recent example :

Felt F6 frame (14 months old) cracked seat stay – £155. New £800/900?

Half wrap repair (one side) £150. Good as new. Total – £350

SPECIALIZED ROUBAIX MULTI-FRACTURE

A side shunt snapped off both chainstays. Bike was a write-off but customer felt he would like to spend the money to get it repaired if possible. I think you’ll agree it has come out rather well. Spot the repair! This one I sprayed. 4 day turn around 😉

CINELLI ESTRADA PRO BB30

Customer says this is the 2nd Cinelli frame to do this. I thought the adhesive looked suspect. Any others out there? Let me know

JULY ODDS & ENDS

TT headtube re-shape/ Re-bond and rivet vintage carbon – alu seat tube/ Re-shaping re-built seat post clamp/ Cervelo P4 overhaul/ Focus front bracket damage to seat tube repairs.

Don’t be afraid to ask for examples of repairs. There might be one I haven’t done yet 😉

RAPHA-CONDOR-SHARP END

Major trama from an accident in the Alps I believe? Head tube, top tube and seat post clamp. Bike now in Head-For-The-Hills getting a new head set kit and back to customer. This one I sprayed

CANNONDALE SYNAPSE

Head-on collision sent to me by WildSide Cycles. Typical break around the downtube and headtube intersection. This is a well laid-up area to ensure the front forks don’t twist the frame under stress. It’s a labor intensive repair with loads of different angles of weave over a few days. This one turned out well. Again lucky to save the decal 😉

Please to avoid confusion: I do not guarantee a spray service. It depends on the bike. I certainly am not qualified to provide matching colours yet but in many cases customers are happy to ride the bike looking like this.

DE ROSA DISASTER

Serious crash into a concrete ditch damaged the downtube causing 3 major fractures. The front fork end on one side had surface damage. Both the downtube and the forks were repaired safely ready for the respray. Client didn’t mind loosing the decals as he decided to have the bike custom painted in Ferrari colours. Look out for the flying Ferrari!

BeOne BLUE MOUNTAIN BIKE TOP TUBE CRACK

Just to prove carbon MTB’s can also be successfully repaired;

Hello Rob,

I meant to send you a message to say thank you and well done for the excellent
job you did on my bike. I rode out on it the next day and posted the attached
photo on Twitter with the caption 'Is it wrong to love a bike this much?!'.

I am so pleased with the repair and will continue to love and ride the bike
safe in the knowledge that it can be repaired if I have another off!

I'm writing this from the Pyrenees where I am cycling all the TDF classics
and hoping my fitness will improve for outings on BeOne Blue when I get home!

Thanks again,

Lorna
